The Gear Under the Hood
To make this happen, we use high-wattage quartz elements. These tubes get incredibly hot to push out the kind of energy needed to actually penetrate thick fabric. We’ve even added specialized coatings to the lamps so the heat doesn’t just sit on the surface of the towel, but actually soaks into the fibers. But, because these things pack a punch, you can’t just slap them anywhere. They need room to breathe. If the housing is blocked or there’s zero airflow, the units can overheat and burn out. We build in precise thermal cut-offs to prevent that, but you still need to give the hardware some breathing room during installation.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
Here is the catch: IR heat is directional. If you mount the rail three feet too far away, you won’t feel nearly as much warmth. You have to put these exactly where people are actually standing. Plus, these lamps pull a decent amount of power. If you’re installing a bunch of them, double-check your circuit breakers. You don’t want the power tripping right in the middle of the morning rush when everyone is trying to dry off.
