The Specs That Actually Matter

The wattage is matched to the tube length, usually between 150W and 250W for units that are 300mm to 600mm long. This gives you consistent heat without overloading the circuit. It also means the lamp heats up fast. That’s great, but it also means the internal wiring and insulation have to be tough enough for continuous, high-current use. In a damp room, any weak spot in the insulation can fail, so we go overboard on the internal barriers to handle both the voltage and the moisture.
The Build That Stands Up to Dampness
Safety starts with how it’s built. We use a quartz tube, not glass. Why? Quartz can handle high heat and sudden temperature changes without cracking. Inside, a halogen element keeps output stable and resistance consistent over time, which cuts down on hot spots that can wear down insulation. The tube also gets a special moisture-resistant coating on the outside. That coating stops condensation from creating conductive paths on the surface—the usual way bathroom heaters fail. For the electrical connection, we use R7s connectors. They give a rigid, double-contact fit that locks in alignment and keeps the joint tight. A loose connection causes arcing, and arcing plus humidity leads to corrosion and failure. The R7s design keeps the contacts under steady pressure, so the lamp stays sealed and dry at the ends.

Plan your mounting clearance and ventilation accordingly. When you give it proper spacing, the lamp stays dry, stays electrically isolated, and delivers dependable heat—even in the most humid conditions. And let’s be real. A 240V infrared lamp packs a lot of heat into a small space. That’s exactly why the cooling and clearance specs on the mounting fixture matter. If you squeeze it into an enclosed housing with no airflow, you’ll overheat the internal parts and shorten the lamp’s life. We design for safety, but you still need to design the installation to handle the heat.
